Seniman lukisan perang merupakan seorang seniman yang ditugaskan oleh pemerintah atau penerbit, atau atas motivasi pribadi, untuk mendokumentasikan pengalaman perang pertama mereka dalam bentuk salinan ilustrasi atau penggambaran tentang bagaimana kehidupan di dalam perang.[1][2][3] Seniman lukisan perang mengeksplorasi dimensi visual dan sensorik perang, yang sering kali tidak ada dalam sejarah tertulis atau kisah peperangan lainnya.[4]
