James Dennis "Jim" Carroll (d. 1 Ağustos 1949, New York; ö. 11 Eylül 2009, New York City) Amerikalı yazar, otobiyograf, şair, müzisyen ve punk. Carroll en çok 1978 yılında yayımlanan The Basketball Diaries adlı otobiyografik eseri ile tanınır. 1995 yılında bu eser film olarak uyarlandı; başrol karakteri Carroll'u Leonardo DiCaprio canlandırdı.

11 Eylül 2009'da Carroll, 60 yaşında, Manhattan'da bulunan evinde kalp krizinden öldü.[1] Öldüğünde masasında çalıştığı bildirildi.
